Burmese Adventists in Indiana
I have been blessed by your ministry on YouTube. I have am originally from Burma, now known as Myanmar, and there is quite a strong population of Seventh-day Adventists in that country.
I’m now living in Indiana ,and there are two Adventist congregations that the people from Burma started. One congregation speaks the Burmese language, and the other separated from the first in order to use the Karen language.
I have a Seventh-day Adventist family member who is constantly trying to evangelize to us. I’ve been doing a lot of research and listening to a lot of podcasts on YouTube, and that is how I came across your video discussing the pamphlet on “10 Questions and Answers on Seventh-day Adventism”.
If it is still available I request a copy of it either in an electronic form or a hard copy form.

Response: Thank you for sharing your background and the details about the two Adventist congregations where you live. We pray that the Lord will use you to bring the knowledge of the true Jesus to those who share your background. The Lord does not waste our Adventist past!
We will send you a copy of the brochure.
Relative Marrying an Adventist
I’m concerned about a relative who is considering marrying a twice-divorced member of Seventh-day Adventism. They are moving fast! Just several weeks ago they reconnected after several years of not seeing each other, and they are planning to get married immediately. They have been speaking on the phone—they live in different states. May God richly bless this ministry as it has blessed me as I have consumed many hours of your content trying to hurriedly learn as much as possible about Adventists and their beliefs over the last week or so.

Response: I am so sorry about your relative You know, from what you describe about the “courtship”, it sounds as if there’s nothing logical or well-considered about this relationship.
I suspect there’s nothing you can say to her that will slow her down at this point, but you could give it your best shot. Perhaps ask her what she knows about Adventism, and tell her that they are not actually Christian but are a form of counterfeit Christianity. I will give you a link to give her about the Adventist worldview that explains how it is not biblical from the ground up, so to speak.
It’s worrisome that she’s not disturbed by his two previous divorces, nor that the divorces don’t make her wonder about his religion!
From this perspective I believe I would tell her first of all that Adventism isn’t Christian, that it hides its true nature from “outsiders” and doesn’t reveal the spiritual force and grip of Adventist practices until one is caught and becomes part of it. I would also make the point that his two divorces are evidence that he doesn’t have the spiritual foundation to sustain his promises nor the conviction that marriage is the type of Christ and the church with all the love and self-sacrifice that relationship includes.
I don’t know what this relationship “promises” her: I would be concerned about the financial pull of two former wives and any children from previous marriages. I have seen Adventist adult children of first marriages meddle with long-term second marriages that are now Christian with devastating effects.
I would just point out the very real issues that could come up that are not outside the realm of possibility. She apparently has almost no knowledge of the extended family, their attitudes, nor of his financial obligations to them.
Below is an article that might help her understand the underlying worldview of Adventism that allows Adventists to behave in very un-Christian ways when they feel so inclined!
And prayer is the most powerful way to deal with this situation!
